Burlington County Announces Cost-Saving Energy Aggregation Program

Reduced Electricity Rates to Save Participating Residents a Total $2.8 Million. Freeholder Mary Ann O’Brien announced today that the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholder’s cost-saving Energy Aggregation Program will go into effect this September, with participating residents expected to see savings in their October electric bills.

Passaic County Towns Join Partnership

Passaic County is offering residents of Haledon, Passaic, Wayne and Woodland Park a way to lower their monthly electricity bills through its partnership with Constellation Energy Services, a third party energy supplier.

“The county is helping residents save money by joining a cooperative energy purchasing group,” said Theodore “TJ” Best, the Passaic County freeholder director. “The savings can help spark our local economy by allowing residents to keep more of their money for spending in local stores and restaurants.”

Moorestown Energy Agg

Moorestown Council will give final consideration to joining the Burlington County Energy Aggregation Program Monday night. Council will hold a public hearing and final reading on an ordinance authorizing Moorestown to join the Burlington County Energy Aggregation Program when it meets Monday night at the Town Hall.

All municipalities in Burlington County must hold their public hearings by March 13. Commercial Utility Consultant is currently meeting with municipalities throughout Burlington County, citing the advantage of a bigger buy-in to benefit municipalities county-wide.

Long Hill Ordinance

At the meeting, the committee passed an ordinance to join the Morris Area Energy Cooperative. Stacia Scaduto, a representative for Commercial Utility Consultants, was at the meeting to answer questions about the newly adopted program.

BurlCo Energy Debate

As Cinnaminson fire commissioner Richard Dietrich sees it, an energy proposal being pushed by the Burlington County freeholders can only be of benefit to towns.

“I think it’s a great idea,” said the Cinnaminson resident who attended a meeting at the F.W. Holbein Middle School on Tuesday night. “The economics issue is so very important.”

Fredon Plans To Cut Electric Bills

FREDON — Representatives from Concord Energy Services and Commercial Utility Consultants — the companies handling the public outreach and bid process for the township's involvement in an energy aggregation program — spent 45 minutes on Tuesday answering questions related to the township's decision to join the Passaic County Energy Cooperative Pricing System.

Hardyston Seeking Bids From Suppliers

HARDYSTON — Hardyston officials are working with a county-run program to reduce electric bills for township residents.

The township has joined Passaic County’s cooperative to pursue Government Energy Aggregation (GEA), a state-supported process. The county has operated a similar cost-saving cooperative for municipal energy needs for four years.

Bloomfield Energy Program

Contrary to Richard Galioto Sr.’s assertion in his recent letter, the Bloomfield Community Energy Aggregation program will expand the range of energy choice for Bloomfield residents. The program also has the potential to provide significant savings to residents on their electric bills.

Community Energy Aggregation was created by the New Jersey Legislature to allow municipalities such as Bloomfield to purchase energy in bulk on behalf of their residents at prices lower than the average utility price.

A Bright Idea In Bayonne

Municipalities rarely get a chance to cut costs for their residents. But Bayonne recently did just that, slashing consumers' bills citywide by about 10 percent. The lower energy rate - achieved through a government energy aggregation program - is expected to save Bayonne residents approximately $2 million over the two-year contract period.

PECO Electric Deregulation

As you may be aware, PECO’s rates are in the process of being restructured and the new rate structure will take effect January 1, 2011. The good news is that the Transition charges that are currently applied to all PECO customers’ bills will no longer be applied. These charges were awarded to PECO when electric deregulation was initiated in Pennsylvania back in 1998 and have been collected via customers’ billings for the last 11 years.

BurlCo Pitches New Energy Program

The county’s Government Energy Aggregation program is meant to bring savings to residents by procuring a licensed third­party electrical supplier to provide to energy for those who don’t opt out of the program, according to Nicholas Reynolds, chief operating officer of Commercial Utility Consultants, a consulting company hired by the county to oversee the program.

Wayne, NJ Energy Alt Program

The Passaic County Energy Cooperative Pricing System pools residents’ energy needs and, with strength in numbers, seeks bids from energy suppliers. The lower costs come from “combining the energy usage of our residents with many other residents in Passaic County,” Mayor Chris Vergano said. A lower price is guaranteed and savings range between 5 percent to 15 percent of ratepayers' bills, said representatives from the consulting firm that's implementing the program.

Wayne, NJ To Cut Energy Costs

The Township of Wayne is working with a county-run program to help reduce electric bills for township residents.

The Township has joined Passaic County's cooperative to pursue Government Energy Aggregation, a state supported process. The Township has participated in a similar county-operated cost-saving cooperative for municipal energy needs for the past few years.

BurlCo Electricity Supply Program

Burlington County is preparing to create a discount electricity supply program for residential consumers, officials say, but it won't know what the savings will be until towns sign up.

"Each town has to pass an ordinance to join," said Nicholas Reynolds, chief operating officer of Commercial Utility Consultants, the county's energy consultant.

Andover Looks To Cut Energy Costs

Andover borough — Andover Borough officials are working with a regional program to reduce electric bills for borough residents, according to a press release from the energy consulting company working on the project. The borough has joined a cooperative led by Passaic County to pursue Government Energy Aggregation, a state-supported process. Passaic has operated a similar cost-saving cooperative for municipal energy needs for four years.

Howell Energy Aggregation

HOWELL — Municipal officials are moving forward with an energy aggregation program that they say will save residents money on their electricity costs. At the June 24 meeting of the Township Council, Nicholas Reynolds, chief operating officer of Commercial Utility Consultants, presented the results of a May 20 public auction for energy costs, as well as the winning energy supplier for Howell.

Bloomfield Officials Tout Energy Auction

A Commercial Utility Consultants representative said that a third-party electricity supplier can reduce bills, and participants can opt out of the plan anytime.

John Dunn, CUC's lead aggregation coordinator, addressed Bloomfield residents on Wednesday during a meeting arranged by Second Ward Councilman Nick Joanow.
